In the early 4th century CE, Chandragupta I established the Gupta dynasty’s imperial foundation, adopting the title Maharajadhiraja and inaugurating the Gupta Era. His son Samudragupta succeeded him around 335 CE and, through unprecedented military campaigns and cultural patronage, earned a legacy as the “Napoleon of India”.
