Kanva Dynasty Overview

The Kanva dynasty ruled Magadha from around 75 BCE to 30 BCE, succeeding the Shungas under Vasudeva Kanva.

Best known from Puranic chronicles, they retained Shunga administrative structures with Pataliputra as their capital.

Their brief tenure ended when Satavahana forces ousted the last Kanva ruler, integrating Magadha into the Satavahana realm.
