Shunga Dynasty and Cultural Revival

The Shunga dynasty (c. 185 – 75 BCE) succeeded the Mauryas after Pushyamitra Shunga’s coup in Pataliputra.

Their rule is noted for a resurgence of Brahmanical rituals, Vedic scholarship, and a flowering of regional art forms.
