South Indian Temple Architecture

South Indian temple architecture, known as the Dravida style, evolved between the 6th and 18th centuries CE. It is distinguished by its towering vimanas, elaborate gopurams, and axial temple layouts. Originating under the Pallavas, it reached its zenith under the Cholas and continued to flourish under the Vijayanagara and Nayaka dynasties.
